Plant a Row for the Hungry

Plant A Row for the Hungry is a national public service campaign initiated by the Garden Writers Association of America in 1995. Westmoor Park has designated a 1/2 acre for this dynamic program that integrates the community to volunteer to organically grow vegetables and herbs. The produce grown is donated to a local shelter in Hartford, as well as the senior centers in town.

We are looking for volunteers from April through October. For more details please contact the Westmoor Park Horticulturalist Jane Gottier.

Congratulations, Jane!  The Westmoor Park Plant A Row gardens were featured on a recent episode of ‘Gardening by the Yard,’

a national TV show on HGTV!

Many thanks to those who participated in the filming of this special, including garden volunteers, summer campers, and of course, Star the cow!
